Free Vintage Prints: Medieval Scenes.

I have not posted many vintage illustrations lately.

I am sorry about that.

I finally took some pictures from my late 1800's books

and decided I ought to get some on here.

My daughter has been studying the medieval times in history this year,

so these images stood out to me because of that,

I am sure.

However, don't we all find the age of knights and castles intriguing?

Here is the cleaned up image in black and white.

 Here it is antiqued.

This image of the girl out for a ride with the castle in the background was the only colored one in the book.

 

 I dulled the colors down a bit for this image:

 and here is the image antiqued.

If you would like to use these images,

they should, as far as I know, be free from copyright since they are from very old books.

To print them up in Word, click on the image, right click,

and then click on "copy",

open up Microsoft Word and right click on the screen,

and then click "paste",

it should paste the image onto the page.

Free Vintage Images: Birds with Nest, Water Scene, Country Road.

Hello!

Here is a fun page I found in one of my old late 1800's books.

It isn't spring here right now,

but I needed a nice image for some tags,

so I edit\ted this image into separate images for the one I wanted.

I used these birds on my price tags for my craft sale pieces.

Here is is antiqued.

 This part is so pretty on its own, too.

 

 Finally,

here is the man walking up the road.

 What a peaceful walk.

I would love to walk there; wouldn't you?

Vintage Advertisement: Mincemeat/Plum Pudding

Hello.

Today I am sharing a vintage add for mincemeat.

My mother-in-law made an apple pie with mincemeat on it last weekend.

I always thought that mincemeat had to have meat in it,

but it is the fruit and spices used on the mincemeat pie.

It was very good, too.

Art Lesson: Sketch Page of the Hemlock Tree.

For today's art lesson,

I sat out on the porch and sketched the hemlock tree on the far side of our small orchard.

Here is the view of the sketchbook.

 My tree trunk is a bit more swayed than the tree is,

but it was a fun tree to draw.

Vintage Image: Horse and Boy.

Hi!

This week I found a vintage image of a horse

since I had horses on the mind with the art lesson.

 

 This is a different looking horse,

with flowing mane and a view from the back angle.

He looks like he's a good work horse.

I cleaned up the image and made a black and white...

and an antiqued version.

Because the detail of this image is a little less,

it looked like a fun one to color.

So here is a colored version as well.

I used my Copic markers for it.

 If you would like to use these images,

you are welcome to since they are all from a book dated in the late 1800's.

I just finished the colorized version, so here they are,

and a colored version using Copic markers.

My Fall Mantel / Free Vintage Image: Boy Under the Tree

Hey, everybody!

I decided it was time to decorate my mantel for fall 

and wanted to fill in a place on the wall with something of autumn.

I paged through some of my antique books and saw the tree in this one.

I have used this before, but didn't share the image itself,

so I cleaned it up for today's post.

Here it is in black and white.

 Here it is antiqued.

For the space I wanted it to fill on my mantel, I needed for it to be a colored version,

so I colored in an antiqued version with Copic markers.

This image is from a book dated in the late 1800's, so it is free of copyright

and you are welcome to use it for your own projects.

Here it is finished and in an old frame.

My mantel is dressed for fall.

Living on a farm seems to influence decorating:

just can't get away from those cows.

I am drawn to blue touches and I love antiques.

They seem to have their own story to tell.

Bold colors belong in my house as well.

These horses were originally gold and were chipped up,

so I painted them red.

Vintage Image: Face on the Moon.

We have had a beautiful moon shining the last couple of nights.

I found these images of the moon a few months back and remembered them when I saw the moon last night.
